Air quality purification area inventory、assessment and maintenance evaluation project.

Absrtact
Air pollution control is one of the important works to protect environment. Therefore, the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) has used a portion of air pollution control fund to establish the air quality purification area(hereinafter called the Aquapu Area)for improving the air quality of Taiwan. From 1996 to 2008, EPA has approved a total of 826 Aquapu areas including the green area of about 1,414.46 hectares and the bike trail length of about 222.82 kilometers in total. The content of this project is a continuous work to provide the inventory, assessment and monitoring related works of the “air quality purification area” for assisting the EPA to establish a quality living environment in Taiwan. The outcomes of this project include (1) the revision of relevant guidelines and methods (Guidelines for Proposal to install Aquapu Area, Guidelines for plant nursery aid application, SIP evaluation guidelines, etc.), (2) on-site inventory, monitoring and assessment works for newly proposed, approved and completed Aquapu Areas, 203 times in total (3) Aquapu Area, bicycle trail and plant nursery related information update and the Aquapu Area website and plant nursery website update and maintenance on a regular time schedule, (4) continuously collecting the case studies of improving the dust pollution of the barren riverbed, revising the relevant aid programs and methods, and drafting the 3-year air quality improvement project for “Eastern Taiwan Air Quality Zone”, (5) Inviting and arranging evaluators for three on-site visitation, and (6) organizing five seminars.
